Blackberry crumble

You’ll need

  • 750 g of blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 50g of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup of oats
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 60g of butter

To cook

Stew the berries and sugar over a low heat for around 10 minutes. While they’re cooking, mix the flour, oats and nutmeg together. Add the butter and rub through until the mixture looks like small crumbs. Reserve a little melted butter for later. When the berries have stewed a little, spoon them into a bowl that can go in the oven. Layer the crumble mixture over the top and pour a little melted butter over the crumble mixture (to help it brown).

    I am feeling pretty sad that I missed out on this tonight now! In two weeks, you won’t be able to get me out of your house at dinner time!
