Fava bean breakfast with harissa & labna

So I guess not everyone’s corner store stocks fava beans and labna. You could use any other beans for this, and if you’re keen you can make your own labna by straining yoghurt (or you could just use yoghurt).

You’ll need

  • 1 tin of kidney beans
  • 1 tin of fava beans (or other)
  • 1 tin of tomatoes
  • as much harissa as you can take
  • 2 bulbs of garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • labna to serve

To cook

Dice the garlic up finely and fry in some olive oil. Add the beans (strained and washed) and tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes along with the bay leaf ( add water as needed). Add the harissa and simmer for another 5-10 (depending on how thick you want it). Serve with a spoonful of labna and crunchy bread.
